PANDA
The iconic two-coloured bear in this beautiful representation
One of the world's most beloved animals in this elegant blown-glass representation.
An old Tibetan legend has it that the panda is white with black spots, because a little girl saved a panda from hunters by offering her life. As a mournful symbol, the animals would have painted their paws black and, in crying and hugging each other, would have coloured all the other parts of their bodies black as well.
This splendid animal is an integral part of the Asian tradition that sees it linked to bamboo and an icon that is also very much in vogue in the western world; from tattoos to filmography ("Kung fu Panda" for example), from a wide variety of gadgets to children's books, etc. It is the symbolic protagonist of the animal.
It is the star-symbol of the WWF logo, since it is an endangered animal as well as a tender, sweet and friendly Chinese "national treasure".
It is a symbol of friendship and diplomacy, all features well represented in this sweet collector's sculpture.
