The mantis has always been widely used in the arts, especially in film, and our artists wanted to pay homage to it by perfectly capturing its fascinating aesthetics in this blown glass and metal configuration almost one metre high.
This majestic sculpture features a very distinctive facial expression that immediately catches the eye of the observer with its finely crafted golden antennae and large blue eyes; the structure rests on four stable legs that slender its line, making this work very faithful to the model existing in nature.
The internal light source illuminates the entire body up to the head, generating surprising colour effects.
CLEO's hypnotic eyes are the fruit of the ingenuity of the Borowski masters: the glass is frosted at the back and transparent at the front and the colour is generated by a section of blue glass behind the eyes. The purple eyebrows provide a beautiful touch of sensuality reminiscent of her namesake Cleopatra.
